Digital Desk: The Punjab government has taken important decisions. A cabinet meeting of the state government on Thursday decided to provide jobs to 104 heirs of farmers who lost their lives during the struggle against the Agriculture Act. Besides, families of farmers in the state have also been asked to provide government appointments.
In a virtual cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said he wanted the families of all farmers who lost their lives in the protest against the Agricultural Act to be given jobs.
A change in policy prepared for government employees and those who fought for the security of the country has also been made on November 21, 2002 to implement this appointment. So that farmers have the facility to employ their families.
A committee headed by Punjab chief secretary Binny Mahajan has been constituted on the directions of the chief minister to provide government jobs to family members of farmers who died in the agitation. The Punjab government will reportedly provide jobs to family members of deceased farmers in the goods department and agriculture department.
United Kisan Morcha leader and Kirti Kisan Union vice president Jitinder Singh, Deep Singh Walla said the government's decision can only be considered as a government's policy. Most families have not received financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh announced by the government so far. United Kisan Morcha has confirmed the death of 600 farmers. So, all of them should have family members getting jobs.
Farmers protested tractors in Delhi on November 26 last year against the agriculture law enacted by the central government. Not only that but farmers have been protesting at various borders in Delhi for nearly 8 months now. So far 600 farmers have died in the protest. Most of them have been killed in illness and road accidents
