Mayur Hazarika, a young and ambitious man, had set his sights on UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) from an early age. Born and brought up in Assam, India, he attended Ramanujan Junior College in Nagaon, where he completed his 12th standard. However, his mother Moushumi Hazarika had different aspirations for him and wanted him to become a doctor. Meanwhile, Dilip Bora, Mayur's principal, intervenes and convinces his mother to let him follow his dreams.
Mayur Hazarika had a deep affinity for the Indian Foreign Service and had a keen interest in working in Middle Eastern and African countries. He had a desire to contribute to environmental protection and bring about a change on a global scale.

While striving to achieve his dream, Mayur is faced with the challenge of juggling his duties as a doctor and preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. He secured All India 5th rank in UPSC CSE 2022, becoming the highest ranked male candidate.
While preparing for prelims, Mayur worked at a hospital in Nagaon district as part of his rural posting under the National Health Mission. This busy schedule left him limited time to study, and he relied mostly on self-study to make progress.
Mayur Hazarika's educational journey began in Assam, where he completed his 12th standard at Ramanujan Junior College. He then pursued his MBBS degree at Gauhati Medical College, which he successfully completed in 2020. Despite having an interest in foreign affairs from a young age, Mayur chose the medical field due to lack of guidance to pursue civil services.

It was during his third or fourth year of medical school that Peacock's passion for foreign diplomacy and international relations intensified. This prompted him to consider attempting the Foreign Service Examination.
The road to success was not without its challenges. Mayur was faced with the demanding task of balancing his rural posting duties and UPSC preparation. Nevertheless, he managed to increase his study hours after the preliminary examination, and devoted himself wholeheartedly to achieving his goals.
Mayur emphasized on the specific requirements of each stage of UPSC exam. In the preliminary exam, factual knowledge is important, while in the main exam, analytical skills are given priority. The interview stage focuses on practical knowledge and its application. Peacock acknowledged the abundance of online resources available for each stage, highlighting the importance of individual effort and understanding to use them effectively.
During his internship, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, and Mayur was also called to fulfill COVID duty. Despite challenges and time constraints, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of excellence. Mayur's mother, Moushumi Hazarika, acknowledged his dedication, noting that he put in a lot of effort amidst his demanding responsibilities.
Mayur Hazarika's father Krishna Hazarika is an executive engineer in the Public Works Department. Together, his parents provided support and encouragement throughout his journey, helping him overcome obstacles and achieve remarkable success.
